General Fabric Care

Occasional light dusting or vacuuming will help prevent soil accumulation. The following cleaning codes can be found on our fabric swatches as a guide to cleaning techniques.

Code S:
Clean this fabric with pure solvents (Petroleum Distillate-Based products). Professional dry cleaning is recommended. CAUTION: Use of water-based or detergent-based solvent cleaners may cause excessive shrinking. Water stains may become permanent and unable to be removed with solvent cleaning agents. To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended.

Code W:
Clean this fabric with water-based cleaning agents or water-based foam to remove overall soil. Many household cleaning agents are harmful to color and life of a fabric. Professional dry cleaning is recommended. To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended.

Code SW:
Clean this fabric with water-based cleaning agents, foam or pure solvents (Petroleum Distillate-Based products). Professional dry cleaning is recommended. To prevent overall soil, frequent vacuuming or light brushing to remove dust and grime is recommended.

Code X:
Clean fabric only by vacuuming or light brushing to prevent accumulation of dust or grime. Water-based foam or solvent-based cleaning agents of any kind may cause excessive shrinking or fading.

The above codes are intended only as a guide; we recommend professional cleaning for all upholstery fabrics.

Sunbrella Fabric Care

Keeping Sunbrella® fabric looking its best is simple and easy.

  • Use a sponge or soft brush to apply mild soap and warm water to the fabric. Rinse thoroughly.
  • Air dry.
  • For stubborn stains or mildew:
  • Add one cup of bleach per gallon of soap and water. Apply directly to the stain.
  • Use a sponge or soft brush to clean.
  • Rinse thoroughly.
  • Air dry.
  • If necessary, repeat with additional bleach.

Always rinse thoroughly. Bleach won't harm Sunbrella® fabric, but it could damage clothing if not rinsed away. Sunbrella® fabric air dries very quickly. Machine drying is unnecessary and high heat may damage the fabric.

Inside Out Fabric Care

General Cleaning For Inside Out Perfomance Fabrics

Because dust and dirt cause fabric to wear faster, we recommend vacuuming regularly with an upholstery attachment.

  • Flip, rotate and fluff removable cushions regularly to ensure even wear and increase longevity.
  • An annual professional cleaning will keep your upholstered furniture looking its best.
  • Maintenance requires promptly treating spots and stains and should include routine, on-going care which reduces soil build-up on a fabric’s surface.
  • Do not rub or brush excessively or you may cause fuzzing.

Spot Cleaning With Soap & Water – For Everyday Messes

The spot cleaning method of stain removal can be used for most light to medium stains.

  1. Before spot cleaning, blot up liquids on the surface with a clean, soft towel and brush off any loose dirt.
  2. Prepare a cleaning solution of 1/4 tsp mild, enzyme detergent, such as standard dishwashing liquid, per 1 cup of lukewarm water.
  3. Apply the cleaning solution using a misting spray bottle.
  4. Work the solution into the affected area by lightly scrubbing the area with a sponge or soft bristle brush. Make sure to work from the outside of the stain inward so as not to spread the stain and rinse your sponge or brush frequently.
  5. Allow cleaning solution to soak into the fabric.
  6. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residues, as residues will attract dirt. Blot excess moisture with a clean, soft towel or sponge.
  7. Repeat steps 3-6 as needed.
  8. Allow fabric to air dry.

Crypton Fabric Care

While the performance features of Crypton Home fabric make it easy to clean, it is not self-cleaning. Use the simple instructions below to clean Crypton.

We recommend mixing 1/4 teaspoon enzyme laundry detergent, like Tide or Cheer, with 1 cup warm water.
  • Apply the solution and agitate with a soft-bristle brush.
  • Blot with a clean towel and rinse.
    Repeat if necessary.
Remember, soap attracts dirt, so make sure to rinse thoroughly.
